2 Alarm House Fire in Rockville

Neilwood House Fire 1 Rockville, MD - 1230 hours on February 16th, 2010: Engine 710 and Tanker 730 responded to the house fire in Rockville Station 23′s first due at the 6100 block of Neilwood Drive. The fire was started because a contractor was melting ice off the roof with a torch. Tanker 730 was on the original alarm because the recent snowfall has made it hard for fire department personnel to access fire hydrants. Engine 710 was on the second alarm, and initiated a fire attack on the second floor master bedroom and bathroom.

Fire was blowing from the slate roof and had completely engulfed the attic and most of the second floor. Units originally were overwhelmed by the amount of fire that had destroyed the house, but were able to overcome the heat to extinguish the fire. “Practice Fire Safety, Watch What You Heat.”
