Just over a couple hours ago, Santa delivered toys with the Cabin John Park VFD on his “sleigh” (Engine 710B) to children at a local shelter, who are without a home during Christmas. These toys are the direct result of our neighbors coming out to see Santa drive through the neighborhood, and donating toys to help CJPVFD support the shelter.
The members of Cabin John Park VFD would like to thank the residents of Cabin John, Potomac, and West Bethesda who helped out by donating a toy as Santa drove through the neighborhoods, or those that may have dropped off toys at our fire station. Once toys were collected they were sorted and wrapped by department members. Gifts were selected for each of the children based on their wishes, and each child ended up with a small handful. Any extra toys we received, or those that were not a match to the children were taken down on Monday to Washington, D.C. Fire Department’s Engine 16/Tower 3, a collection center for the Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys For Tots” program.
A lot of support from community members as well as our own department members went in to ensuring another successful year in our 15+ year tradition of donating toys to the Greentree National Center for Children and Families. We cannot thank our residents enough for their generosity.

Cabin John Park VFD would like to thank NBC Washington to help get the word out about this cause. It is helpful for our residents to see the individual impact of their donations, right in their own backyard.
CJPVFD would also like to thank AnimatedLighting, the maker of the light and sound system for our fire truck, who helped us out by donating new music for Santa’s Sleigh.
