It is not everyday that we post news from other volunteer fire departments, but today an incident in Prince George’s County, MD hit close to home. While operating on the Capital Beltway, the same major thruway visited by CJPVFD on an almost daily basis, Engine 281 from the West Lanham Hills Volunteer Fire Department, was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer, resulting in all four firefighters receiving injuries. One of the firefighters received very serious injuries requiring a helicopter transport to a local speciality hospital.
Our thoughts are with those affect by the incident. We at CJPVFD hope that from this accident, there is a positive message about the importance of driving slowly and safely around accidents spread to citizens and guests of the area.
