Santa Runs 2012 Schedule and Press Release

Happy Holidays! Now that the last of the left over turkey and stuffing have been cleared out of the Cabin John Park VFD fridge, we are now prepping for the arrival of Santa into our neighborhoods!

Just as we did last year, and have been doing for many years, Cabin John Park VFD will be decorating our spare fire engine, E710B, so that it may act as a sleigh for Santa! We will then chauffer Santa through our neighborhoods. Santa will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for a local shelter. Santa has stated that toys should be appropriate for boys and girls ages 3-16, however, he discourages anything that resembles a weapon. Any excess toys that we collect will be given to the United States Marine Corps’s “Toys For Tots” program.

So when can you expect Santa in your neighborhood? Click “Continue Reading” to see our schedule and a full press release!

PRESS RELEASE:

November 25, 2012

Cabin John, MD – Local television news stations, radio markets and print media
are invited to join the Cabin John Volunteer Fire Department as we continue our
thirty (32) year old tradition of traversing the Cabin John, West Bethesda and
Potomac communities with Santa Claus atop our fire engine!

Yes, Santa will make his way with his merry bunch of firefighter elves each night
through the streets of the community collecting toys for the National Center for
Children and Families in Bethesda and the USMC Toys for Tots Program.

Each year, many families run out to the fire engine from their homes to meet Santa
and give him a present for a boy or girl and receive a candy cane from Santa in
return. The children and grown-ups alike are overjoyed at the synchronized music
and light show that emits from the fire engine as it criss-crosses the neighborhoods!

Reporters and/or camera crews are cordially invited to follow behind or ride with
the Cabin John Park VFD as we take our decked out and lit fire truck out on the
town nightly from 6 pm to 9 pm from December 8th through December 21st. You
are also invited to join Santa for the delivery of the toys to the National Center for
Children and Families, located on Greentree Road in Bethesda on Christmas Eve.
On a side note, the video clip also makes for great background for commercial
breaks or at the end of a newscast.

It is our pleasure to offer this opportunity as a gesture of goodwill during the
holiday season to the crews with whom we work so closely with throughout the year!
