On Saturday, March 12 Cabin John Park volunteers participated in Man vs Machinery Training offered by PL Vulcan Training Concepts and hosted by Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company in Baltimore County. Our members were able to take advantage of hands on training. This included impalement extrication, limb extrication from a meat grinder (no limbs were used, just chicken!), lifting vehicles off victims and removing jewelry from swollen extremities. It is amazing what can be done with a rubber band, dish soap and a butter knife. All participants gained a wealth of knowledge and will be looking to pass that on to all our personnel. These kinds of incidents rarely happen, but we want all department members to have the knowledge and skill ready to use when it is needed most.
